The Lotus Turbo Esprit is a two-seat sports car manufactured by Lotus Cars from 1981 to 1988. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Turbo Esprit followed the previous Essex Turbo Esprit, a special edition of the Lotus Esprit S2 with a turbocharged engine and the first Lotus to come turbocharged from the factory. The Turbo Esprit was powered by a 2.2L 910 turbocharged inline-4 producing 210 horsepower mated to a 5-speed Citroën C35 manual; these could be differentiated from standard Esprits with their more aerodynamic and aggressive bodykit and unique "Turbo Esprit" logo marks. Production ended in 1986. 1,608 were produced.
