The Ford Aerostar is a range of vans produced by Ford from 1986 to 1997. The first minivan produced by Ford, the Aerostar was marketed as a competitor to the Chrysler minivans and the Chevrolet Astro, with its name derived from its slope-nosed "one box" exterior. The Aerostar was also the first minivan powered exclusively by V6 engines and was one of the first vehicles to introduce all-wheel drive to its segment in the United States. Manufactured at Ford's St. Louis Assembly, the Aerostar was replaced by the Windstar in 1995 although both were concurrently manufactured until 1997. 2,029,577 were produced.
