Ambulance Retool 2011

The Ambulance is a casting which debuted in the 1970 Heavyweights Series of futuristic trucks designed by Ira Gilford. The Ambulance uses the medium length body which was also used on the Tow Truck, Scooper and Snorkel. It features a large wrap-around front glass bubble windshield with the cab over the front axles, which took inspiration from concept vans of the era. It was only manufactured in Hong Kong and came with blue tinted windshield and either a white or dark gray interior. The rear part has an opening door with a stretcher and seats inside, decorated with 'Red Cross' symbols and a blue 'glass' dome. It came packaged with a metal 'Collector's Button' or a rarer plastic version.
