The Willys Americar was a compact car manufactured by Willys-Overland from 1937 to 1942. Designed by Barney Roos, the 1941 and 1942 models were marketed as the Americar due to patriotic trends of the time. Production was quickly abandoned due to World War II, with no Willys passenger cars produced until 1952 with the Aero. After its discontinuation many Americars were turned into hot rods and gassers due to frequent failures of the engines and Willys not rendering any assistance with repairs of their cars. 22,000 were sold in 1941.
